History of the area
The two communities of Grant and Valkaria stayed rural and unincorporated for over a century, until residents voted in 2006 to join together and take control of their own growth, making this Brevard’s newest town. We’re proud to serve a community that fought to stay exactly the kind of place it wanted to be.
Valkaria Airport, code X59 is a Brevard County staple, publicly owned, it is a general use aviation airport. The Bensen House and Jorgensen’s General Store are historic buildings. With 5 miles of Indian River Lagoon frontage, fishing, boating, and kayaking opportunities abound.
Grant, the southern portion and Valkaria, the northern portion are smaller communities that focus on friends, family and enjoying the beautiful town they call home.
Do I need a permit to put a dumpster on my property in Grant-Valkaria? No — private-property placement generally doesn’t need a permit. Right-of-way placement requires a permit from the Town’s Building Department. (We’ll always tell you upfront if your situation needs one.) Parts of Grant and Valkaria are rural can you still deliver here? Yes, we service the full town, including larger rural properties. Just let us know your specific access situation when booking.
