History of the area
Cocoa Beach grew up during the Space Race, when NASA engineers and astronauts made this stretch of A1A their home away from the launch pad. It’s been a surf town at heart ever since Ron Jon opened its Cocoa Beach flagship in 1963, now the largest surf shop in the world. Between the pier, the waves, and the beach bars, this town runs on its own laid-back schedule. We’re proud to serve a place that never lost that vibe.
The flagship Ron Jon Surf Shop is the world’s largest surf shop, two acres, open 24/7/365, and a local favorite. Our Cocoa Beach Pier is a historic 800+ foot pier over the Atlantic. Shops, restaurants, fishing and live music line the dock and has remained a local favorite for 50+ years. Picture perfect Lori Wilson Park has beachfront parks, boardwalks, nature trails and is a popular metal-detecting and treasure-hunting spot. Coconuts on the Beach , the iconic beachfront bar and restaurant, with incredible live music.
North Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral border are located close to the port and Ron Jon’s. South Cocoa Beach is a more quiet and residential stretch towards Patrick Space Force Base. Our A1A oceanfront corridor have many condos and hotels lining the beach.
Do I need a permit to put a dumpster on my property in Cocoa Beach? No, private-property placement generally doesn’t need a permit. Right-of-way placement requires a permit through the city’s Development Services / Building Division. I’m doing a condo or vacation rental turnover. Can you work around a tight timeline? Yes, we’re used to quick-turnaround jobs on the beachside. Just flag your timeline when booking.
